Director of Security Engineering (Cybersecurity)

Location: San Francisco office with an office-centric hybrid schedule; standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, with work-from-home options on Wednesday and potentially Friday depending on the role.

Base salary: $306,000–$360,000 per year, plus potential equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Build security by construction, design, and default across products and infrastructure.
• Develop and own security frameworks, interfaces, services, and libraries that accelerate secure development.
• Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary Security Engineering organization.
• Own the security engineering roadmap, prioritizing high-velocity delivery and measurable risk reduction.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to embed security requirements into system designs and development workflows.
• Oversee complex design reviews and provide technical direction on secure architecture and code.

Requirements

• 10+ years of combined security and software engineering experience.
• 3+ years of direct management experience leading high-performing engineering teams.
• Strong software engineering background with experience in deep-dive design reviews and architectural guidance.
• Expertise in application security, OWASP, cloud-native architecture, and identity frameworks including OAuth, OIDC, and SAML.
• Hands-on experience with security controls and architecture in AWS or comparable cloud environments at scale.
• Experience shipping automated internal tools or services and evaluating security risks introduced by AI tools.
