Metals Supervisor – Analytical Operations (Analytical Chemistry)

Location: East Syracuse, New York, USA; onsite laboratory role

Salary: USD 65,000–75,000 yearly, based on experience

What you will do

• Lead daily metals laboratory operations to meet turnaround time, throughput, and data quality targets.
• Coordinate workflow, sample prioritization, tracking, processing, and documentation in LIMS.
• Apply technical judgment to troubleshoot analytical and workflow challenges.
• Supervise, coach, mentor, and develop analysts and technicians.
• Partner with laboratory leadership on hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management.
• Promote laboratory safety, compliant data delivery, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline, or equivalent education and experience.
• At least four years of experience in analytical testing laboratories.
• Hands-on metals experience in a production or analytical environment.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory workflows, process optimization, sample lifecycle management, and analytical troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of environmental testing protocols, regulations, and certifications.
• Advanced written and verbal English skills required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office is also required.

Nice to have

• Experience supervising, leading, or mentoring laboratory staff.
• Experience in a high-throughput or production-driven laboratory.
• Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems.
