Metals Manager (Chemistry)

Location: West Columbia, South Carolina, United States. Full-time onsite schedule, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.

What you will do

• Manage laboratory staff, including hiring, training, development, engagement, performance evaluation, and performance management.
• Oversee department schedules, services, results, operational programs, policies, and procedures.
• Lead laboratory, instrumentation, and equipment reviews while supporting compliance with applicable standards, regulations, and policies.
• Resolve escalated technical, customer, operational, and service-related problems or conflicts.
• Manage the department budget, allocate resources, and approve expenditures within assigned authority.
• Coordinate special projects, establish performance metrics, and advise leadership on operational improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, environmental science, or a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• At least five years of relevant experience, typically including lead or supervisory experience.
• Strong understanding of laboratory principles, program implementation, team development, budgeting, and applicable laws and regulations.
• Ability to supervise and evaluate employees, train teams, prepare reports, give presentations, and manage varied laboratory functions.
• Correct business English, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
