Emergency Department Tech

What you will do

• Provide direct patient care and assist nurses and providers in the Emergency Department.
• Record vital signs, intake and output, patient information, and updates to the ED tracking board.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, specimen collection, INT removal, and suture or staple removal as directed.
• Prepare wounds, apply splints and immobilizers, fit crutches, and support patient mobility and transport.
• Set up and check oxygen and suction equipment while maintaining stocked supplies and functional equipment.
• Follow infection control, safety, body mechanics, and age-specific patient-care standards.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience as an EMT, HUC, LPN, MA, or PCA/CNA, or an applicable license or certification.
• Current CPR certification is required.
• With less than one year of experience, hold a current EMT registry or license, LPN, MA, or CNA certification, or be enrolled in an accredited nursing program.
• Nursing students must have completed the fundamental clinical skills portion of the program, including the first semester of clinicals.
• Availability to work onsite in Knoxville, Tennessee, on a full-time night shift schedule.
