Senior Communications Specialist

Location: London Broadcasting House, London, United Kingdom. The role requires weekend work from 8am to 2pm every third weekend.

Salary: £45,000–£52,000 per year, plus a £5,441 London Weighting Allowance.

The hirify.global is a public-service broadcasting organisation producing television, radio, news, online and streaming content.

What you will do

• Lead a busy corporate press desk on a rota basis and respond to media questions across hirify.global activities.
• Generate proactive press and digital coverage and manage complex media inquiries.
• Prepare statements and releases, brief senior management, and coordinate communications activity.
• Handle media relations for corporate topics including the Director-General’s work, Charter Review, editorial policy, complaints, HR, and diversity and inclusion.
• Coordinate communications with teams across TV, hirify.global iPlayer, Radio, hirify.global Sounds, News and Online.
• Occasionally deputise for the Senior Head of Communications.

Requirements

• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
• Experience in proactive and reactive publicity.
• Outstanding news sense and judgement.
• Experience managing people.
• Experience delivering digital communications.
• Eligibility to work checks are required before employment.

• Experience handling crises and managing responses at a high-profile organisation.
• Knowledge of or experience in the media and broadcasting environment.
