Staff Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

Location: New York, NY; hybrid with on-site expectations of 2–3 days per week in the local office

Salary: $160,000–$200,000 USD annually for Tier 1 locations, including NYC. Other U.S. location tiers range from $136,000–$180,000 annually.

What you will do

• Define quality strategy and test automation direction for major products and platforms.
• Architect, implement, and optimize scalable automation frameworks across products and services.
• Establish best practices for advanced testing methodologies, test data generation, and data-driven testing.
• Lead cross-team quality and automation initiatives with significant business impact.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and leadership stakeholders to align quality goals.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship while analyzing quality metrics, coverage, and improvement areas.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of experience in software quality engineering and test automation.
• Expert proficiency in multiple programming languages and automation frameworks.
• Experience architecting scalable automation solutions across products and platforms.
• Deep knowledge of CI/CD systems, infrastructure-as-code tools, observability, monitoring, and analytics.
• Proficiency in complex data analysis, advanced SQL, technical leadership, communication, and cross-team mentorship.
