Genetic Counseling Policy and Strategy Manager

Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States; hybrid with 2–3 days onsite per week. Availability by pager and scheduled on-call coverage during normal business hours at the main campus are required.

Salary: $150,000–$172,500 per year.

What you will do

• Provide expert genetic counseling for adult oncology and high-risk genetics patients, including risk assessment, test selection, informed consent, result disclosure, psychosocial support, and management recommendations.
• Lead clinical care for complex and high-acuity cases involving common and rare hereditary cancer syndromes.
• Design and refine scalable genetics care models, referral pathways, testing criteria, and high-risk screening practices.
• Partner with technology, operations, and administrative stakeholders to integrate family history tools, pedigree software, clinical decision support, and genetics workflows.
• Evaluate operational efficiency, billing and reimbursement workflows, genetic testing utilization, and responsible resource use.
• Lead quality improvement, compliance, accreditation readiness, governance, and advocacy activities related to genetic counseling and genomic information.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling.
• At least 10 years of progressively advanced clinical genetic counseling experience.
• Board certification by the American Board of Genetic Counseling and current licensure as a Genetic Counselor in Massachusetts.
• Leadership experience in program development, staff mentorship, education, or research initiatives.
• Expert knowledge of hereditary cancer genetics, cancer risk assessment, tumor/germline testing, variant interpretation, and evidence-based clinical practice.
• Strong communication, collaboration, teaching, research, analytical, organizational, and project management skills.

Nice to have

• Extensive experience in clinical cancer genetic counseling.
• Experience in an academic medical center, cancer center, or similarly complex healthcare environment.
