TL;DR
AOS Improvement Leader (Aerospace Manufacturing): Driving operational performance and continuous improvement across aerospace manufacturing teams with an accent on Lean/AOS standards, industrial maturity, and sustainable transformation. Focus on leading task forces, facilitating shop-floor exercises, coaching senior management, and deploying standardized solutions for advanced composite aerostructures.

Location: On-site in Kinston, North Carolina, United States. The role includes approximately 10% domestic and international travel, including visits to production areas, flight lines, and airstrips.

Airbus Aerosystems Kinston manufactures advanced composite aerostructures and critical aircraft components, including the Airbus A350 XWB composite center fuselage and wing spar.

What you will do

  • Define and deploy Airbus Operating System and Lean ways of working across operational and manufacturing teams.
  • Advise plant managers, senior leaders, and functional stakeholders on performance improvement priorities and standards.
  • Deploy business improvement and transformation roadmaps, including AOS architecture and governance.
  • Lead industrial task forces, maturity assessments, Gemba activities, workshops, and shop-floor improvement exercises.
  • Coach, mentor, and train manufacturing teams on Lean, AOS, change management, and continuous improvement tools.
  • Promote internal best practices and external benchmarking across manufacturing communities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in operations and Lean or continuous improvement projects with measurable, sustainable results.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, production management, industrialization, and industrial systems implementation.
  • Experience managing projects involving multifunctional teams and financial aspects.
  • Demonstrated coaching, training, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be eligible for employment in the United States and have current US work authorization; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

  • APICS basic-level knowledge.
  • Six Sigma or Lean Black Belt certification.
  • Kepner Tregoe or equivalent qualification.
