Senior Optical Systems Engineer (AI Infrastructure)

What you will do

• Drive advanced optical technologies into Optical Bridge systems, including OSFP, XPO, CPO, diffractive waveguide optical bridges, GRIN, and TIR approaches.
• Translate system requirements into optical, electrical, mechanical, thermal, and packaging sub-assembly specifications.
• Develop test methodologies and run experiments for alignment, coupling, loss, optical characterization, and full-system validation.
• Lead OSAT and ODM partners through design reviews, simulations, design-for-manufacturing feedback, and qualification testing.
• Build and maintain the optical laboratory, including automated measurement systems using nano-positioners and instrumentation.
• Develop high-throughput measurement workflows and MATLAB or Python tools for experiment control, data analysis, and sim-to-measurement correlation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Optics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Physics.
• 10+ years of optics development experience spanning optical, electrical, thermal, mechanical, and packaging implementation.
• Track record of taking hardware from concept through shipped production.
• Experience with Co-Packaged Optics, Near-Packaged Optics, Optical Compute Interconnect, and Linear Pluggable Optics.
• Experience driving OSAT or ODM suppliers through design and qualification.
• Hands-on knowledge of link-budget analysis, insertion and return loss, OSNR, eye diagrams, jitter, BER, FEC margining, measurement data organization, and publication-quality reporting.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Optics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Physics.
• Experience designing or building automated optical laboratory instrumentation.
• Programming or scripting experience with Python or MATLAB for lab automation or data analysis.
• Working knowledge of high-speed design and signal or power integrity considerations.
