TL;DR
Electrical Engineer Support (Avionics) (aircraft electrical systems): Conducting electrical analysis, testing, and airworthiness documentation for U.S. Army aircraft, mission equipment, avionics, and related subsystems with an accent on EMC/EMI testing, flight-test instrumentation, and system verification. Focus on developing test plans and reports, designing and evaluating electrical systems, supporting field testing, and presenting engineering findings to government and industry partners.

Location: On-site at Fort Eustis, Virginia, United States. Travel up to 25% is required to support site surveys, technical meetings, training, and testing outside JBLE facilities.

Salary: $92,000–$116,000 annually. The position is contingent upon contract award.

What you will do

  • Conduct electrical analysis of aircraft systems, instrumentation, airframes, subsystems, avionics, mission computers, sensors, and weapons systems.
  • Develop modeling and simulation environments, system architectures, verification plans, test plans, flight-test instrumentation plans, and electrical analysis reports.
  • Prepare substantiation packages, designs, drawings, and documentation supporting integration onto U.S. Army aviation platforms and airworthiness approval.
  • Design and execute laboratory, bench, feasibility, electrical, EMC, and EMI testing.
  • Provide systems engineering and analysis support for technical performance measures, field testing, post-test data collection, and analysis.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and senior-level briefings while identifying technical risks and mitigation options.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship and an active, in-scope U.S. Secret security clearance are required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering from an ABET-accredited program with 2+ years of relevant experience, or a related master’s degree with 1+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience generating electrical, electronics, or avionics test plans, analyses, and reports, preferably in a DoD research and development environment.
  • Experience with CAD software such as Creo or AutoCAD.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, harness drawings, and wiring diagrams.
  • Ability to present engineering findings at technical interchange meetings and senior-level briefings.
