Profee Coding Consultant - PRN (Medical Coding)

What you will do

• Review medical records and assign accurate CPT, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and HCPCS codes.
• Conduct data quality reviews against official coding and documentation guidelines.
• Identify documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues.
• Consult with clients, healthcare leaders, hospital staff, and internal stakeholders on clinical and reimbursement matters.
• Use VPN access to complete tasks remotely while meeting productivity and performance standards.
• Maintain continuing education credits, attend required training sessions, and follow AHIMA ethical standards.

Requirements

• AHIMA certification such as RHIA, RHIT, or CCS, or AAPC certification such as CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC, or CRC.
• Experience in a process-driven, high-volume medical coding environment.
• Strong knowledge of CPT II codes and computerized encoding and abstracting software.
• Ability to meet productivity and performance standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication, time management, and remote-work skills.
• Successful completion of the annual introductory HIPAA examination and other assigned annual testing.
