Sr. Manager - Factory Automation (Aerospace): Leading the development and deployment of scalable hardware and software automation solutions for rocket and systems manufacturing with an accent on controls engineering, PLC and robot programming, and manufacturing process efficiency. Focus on designing complete automation cells, developing SCADA applications, and integrating IoT analytics and AI-powered software into closed-loop manufacturing systems.

Location: Greater Seattle Area, United States

Base pay for Washington applicants: $197,004.00–$275,805.60 per year.

What you will do

  • Lead automation initiatives that improve the reliability, safety, quality, and efficiency of manufacturing processes.
  • Own the technical architecture, roadmap, and implementation of scalable automation systems.
  • Oversee mechanical and electrical design of complete automation solutions, including component integration and novel hardware development.
  • Lead the design and modification of PLC and robot programs.
  • Support SCADA application development using technologies such as Ignition, Kepware, and AWS.
  • Collaborate with data science and AI teams to integrate IoT analytics and AI-powered software into closed-loop manufacturing systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in mechanical, manufacturing, mechatronics, electrical, controls, or a related engineering field.
  • 8+ years of engineering leadership experience with multifunctional automation teams.
  • 6+ years of experience with automation software development languages such as Ladder, Structured Text, or C/C++.
  • 6+ years of experience with controls and automation development environments such as Siemens TIA Portal or Allen-Bradley ControlLogix.
  • 3+ years of experience designing automation layouts and configuring cells from scratch.
  • Ability to interpret and review electrical and mechanical drawings, simplify designs and processes, and communicate clearly with partners.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree or higher in a relevant engineering field.
  • Knowledge of IEC 61131, ANSI B11, NFPA 79, and RIA 15.06 safety standards.
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical design, automation simulation, Python or C#, NC programming, and machine electrical verification.
  • Experience maintaining controls code in source control and working with manufacturing processes, CNC machines, metrology, and inspection systems.
