Platform Engineer (Cloud)

Location: San Antonio, Texas, US; hybrid work with an average of 1–2 days per week in the San Antonio office

Salary: $70,000–$100,000 per year

What you will do

• Design and implement core software architecture from prototypes through operational applications.
• Develop custom software components and integrate open-source code to solve complex Big Data and cloud problems.
• Define, build, and manage virtual cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Enhance, optimize, and improve the robustness of existing codebases as a systems integrator.
• Design enterprise APIs, RESTful web services, and microservices-based capabilities.
• Work independently and collaboratively to solve problems and support strategic goals set by the architecture team.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• A bachelor's degree in a related field with no experience, or a high school diploma/equivalent with four years of relevant Platform Engineering or Go software development experience.
• Experience with AWS, Go, Linux command line, enterprise APIs, RESTful web services, microservices architecture, and object-oriented programming.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools such as Git, Nexus, or Maven.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, learn quickly, solve problems, and work in an agile software lifecycle.
• DoD 8140 / 8570 compliance certification is required within 60 days of employment; hybrid office attendance is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with DISA's Big Data Platform or other Big Data systems such as Cloudera, Hortonworks, or MapR.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, including GitLab CI, Travis CI, or Jenkins.
• Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, GitHub, GitLab, Puppet, Ansible, virtualization platforms, or related development tool suites.
• DoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level II compliance certifications.
