Software Engineer (AI)

hirify.global is an applied AI company developing hardware and software for the semiconductor industry, AI infrastructure, and systems engineering.

What you will do

• Own and productize Normal CLI, an interactive terminal application for AI-assisted semiconductor verification.
• Design information architecture and interaction patterns for commands, navigation, input, streamed output, progress, review, interruption, recovery, and errors.
• Develop the local session client and help define the structured event interface used by the product.
• Ensure reliable cross-platform behavior across terminals, shells, remote sessions, macOS, Linux, Windows, WSL, non-English input, and IMEs.
• Improve responsiveness under load through streaming, cancellation, concurrency, and event-loop design.
• Build reusable UI components, packaging and update systems, snapshot tests, and visual-regression coverage.

Requirements

• 4+ years of software engineering experience, including significant experience building and maintaining an interactive terminal application, TUI, or rich local client.
• Experience improving an existing codebase without breaking established behavior.
• Strong engineering fundamentals; the application uses Python and Textual.
• Experience with event-driven or asynchronous applications, streaming data, local processes, cancellation, concurrency, persistence, and recovery.
• Experience testing interactive software and debugging across terminal, application, and runtime boundaries.
• Ability to work with researchers and domain experts and represent complex technical workflows accurately.

Nice to have

• Experience with Textual, Rich, prompt-toolkit, curses, Bubble Tea, Ratatui, Ink, or another terminal UI framework.
• Knowledge of PTYs, terminal emulation, multiplexers, remote shells, or host abstractions.
• Experience with AI-agent interfaces, cross-platform packaging, self-update systems, internationalization, IME support, visual regression testing, or desktop frameworks.
• Background in semiconductors, EDA, or hardware engineering workflows.
