Senior Research Intelligence Engineer (SQL/Python)

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States; onsite in the office 5 days a week

Annual base salary: $145,000–$185,000; target annual bonus: 10%

What you will do

• Connect the Institutional Research Group with Product, Engineering, and Data Operations teams to implement and maintain research methodologies across products, repositories, and production deployments.
• Research, build, and maintain pipelines for native and non-native data sources.
• Own SQL queries and views, optimize queries, and maintain ongoing data pipelines.
• Advise on methodology updates, data cleanups, and the delivery of reliable data to analysts.
• Develop and deploy applications for prototyping, internal use, and production use cases with analyst groups.
• Streamline research and data-analysis processes, communicate project progress and roadblocks, and support more junior engineers.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in data engineering, data analysis, or data-driven research.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python.
• Authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Experience working cross-functionally with technical teams to deploy complex tools and methodologies to production.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex methodologies to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Analytical, detail-oriented, and critical-thinking mindset; proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new systems quickly.

Nice to have

• Software development and deployment experience, including AI-enabled coding tools.
• Knowledge of valuation techniques, startup cap tables, internal rate of return, and portfolio management.
• Interest in M&A and private financial markets.
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or technical field such as Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or quantitative Finance/Economics.
