Senior Chinese Language Specialist (Cybersecurity)

Salary: $120,000–$148,000 annually

What you will do

• Provide native-level Mandarin and Cantonese language expertise across intelligence products and communications.
• Conduct cultural analysis, research, HUMINT collection, and target analysis focused on Chinese actors and networks.
• Translate transcripts, video, and audio materials between Chinese and English while preserving meaning and context.
• Support CI/HUMINT operations under USCYBERCOM J2X and collaborate with analysts and collectors on collection strategies.
• Develop operating instructions, polished intelligence products, and briefings for operational and senior leadership audiences.
• Support surge and contingency operations requiring rapid linguistic and cultural analysis.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and an active TS/SCI clearance with a current CI Scope polygraph are required.
• Native-level Chinese proficiency and ILR/DLPT Level 4 in Chinese speaking, reading, and writing are required.
• Master’s degree in a related field, or bachelor’s degree plus five additional years of senior-level experience; 17 years of total experience may be required under the bachelor’s pathway.
• At least 12 years of relevant experience, including experience within the past two years.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Chinese.
• Experience with HUMINT collection, cultural analysis, intelligence analysis, target research, or CI/HUMINT operations involving Chinese actors or networks.

Nice to have

• Background in Chinese regional studies, political science, cultural analysis, international relations, or intelligence.
• Experience with Chinese social media platforms, technical terminology, military doctrine, cyber capabilities, or intelligence services.
• Knowledge of network defense principles and network infrastructure concepts in an intelligence context.
• Experience supporting USCYBERCOM, NSA, DIA, or other Intelligence Community organizations.
• Flexibility for short-notice on-call surge support during contingency operations.
