Backend Engineer (Django)

Location: Hybrid and in person in Kitchener-Waterloo, New York City, or San Francisco; authorization to work in the US or Canada and ability to travel to both required.

What you will do

• Build and launch customer-facing Django backend services.
• Improve customer experience through performance optimizations.
• Reduce technical debt and improve engineering quality of life.
• Support, unblock, and collaborate with teammates in person.
• Own work end to end, maintain visibility, and communicate progress clearly.

Requirements

• Experience with Python web development.
• Strong understanding of computer science and algorithm fundamentals.
• Exceptional research and debugging skills.
• Ability to simplify problems independently and evaluate technical trade-offs using the YAGNI principle.
• Authorization to work in the US or Canada and ability to travel to both locations.

Nice to have

• Experience with Django and Ninja.
