Forward Deployed Software Engineer, Advanced (AI)

Location: Lincolnshire, Illinois, USA. On-site work with customer teams and travel are required.

Salary: $122,800–$184,200 annual, plus a target annual cash incentive of 12% of base pay.

What you will do

• Deploy Zebra AI products in customer environments and engineer customized AI-driven software solutions.
• Work on-site or closely with customer teams to remove technical blockers and guide product adoption.
• Architect, design, test, maintain, and deploy complex AI-powered applications on edge devices and Android.
• Build data pipelines connecting edge and on-premises servers with AI processing environments.
• Translate customer challenges into product improvements and collaborate with engineering and research teams on foundational models.
• Provide technical leadership across engineering disciplines and act as the principal technical contact for critical projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• 8+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 5+ years with an advanced degree.
• Advanced proficiency in multiple programming languages, software architecture, system-level programming, and performance optimization.
• Experience with MLOps and deploying AI/ML models on-premises and in cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience integrating AI solutions with enterprise tools and APIs.
• Ability to work on-site with customers and travel as required.

Nice to have

• Experience training and fine-tuning AI models.
• Exposure to the NVIDIA CUDA toolkit.
• Familiarity with competitor products and industry trends.
