Assoc Scientist, Lab Ops

What you will do

• Perform and document routine analytical procedures and laboratory testing in accordance with SOPs and regulatory guidelines.
• Analyze data and results for acceptable tolerances, identify unusual findings, and escalate performance errors to senior laboratory personnel.
• Prepare analysis results for upload to the LIMS system under senior staff guidance.
• Assist with quality investigations, deviations, resolutions, and the review, development, and implementation of laboratory procedures.
• Prepare buffers and solutions, calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment, and notify inventory staff about supply shortages.
• Guide entry-level staff, support onboarding, deliver training within areas of competency, and collaborate on cross-functional projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; some laboratories may require a degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, medical laboratory technology, or cytotechnology.
• Basic knowledge of the assigned technical area, laboratory systems, procedures, and applicable regulatory standards such as Good Laboratory Practices.
• Proficiency with relevant laboratory techniques, safety and infection-control procedures, standard precautions, and hazardous chemical handling.
• Experience with automation or specialized laboratory equipment and routine laboratory calculations, including averages, means, standard deviations, and quality-control metrics.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, with strong attention to detail, accuracy, multitasking, and stakeholder collaboration.
• Six months of experience in a regulated laboratory environment is preferred; applicable certification or regulatory credentials may be required depending on jurisdiction.
