Communications Manager (Cybersecurity)

Location: New York City, United States; hybrid setup with remote Fridays for employees working from the NYC headquarters.

Salary: $125K–$165K annual total compensation, plus potential bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own day-to-day media relations, including pitching stories, responding to journalists, and building targeted lists of AI and cybersecurity reporters.
• Write and distribute press releases, media pitches, briefing documents, bylines, talking points, and other press materials.
• Build relationships with journalists, editors, and freelancers while tracking beats, coverage, placements, and share of voice.
• Secure interviews, briefings, speaking opportunities, and awards submissions; prepare executives and other spokespeople with talking points and Q&A materials.
• Partner with Marketing, Product, and leadership on launches, research findings, funding milestones, executive visibility, and internal announcements.
• Support issues management by monitoring the news cycle, drafting holding statements, and coordinating responses to sensitive or unexpected media inquiries.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in public relations, communications, or media relations.
• Experience or strong interest in technology, cybersecurity, or another fast-moving industry.
• Existing journalist and editor relationships, or a proven ability to build them and secure media coverage.
• Strong writing skills with the ability to translate technical details into effective pitches and adapt tone for different audiences.
• Excellent organization, responsiveness, composure under pressure, and ability to manage multiple conversations and deadlines.
• Collaborative approach to working with Marketing, Product, and leadership teams.
