TL;DR
Gas & Electric Design Analytics and Process Improvement Intern - MN (Power BI): Analyzing operational and project data for gas and electric design, contracting, and project delivery with an accent on dashboards, reporting, process mapping, and business performance metrics. Focus on identifying trends and risks, validating data, documenting workflows, and developing recommendations for leadership.

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States; hybrid work with in-person commuting to the designated work location and occasional travel up to 10% to offices, service centers, operating facilities, or project sites.

Salary: $20.90–$22.10 per hour

What you will do

  • Analyze operational and project data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and performance metrics using Excel, Power BI, and other reporting tools.
  • Support process mapping, workflow analysis, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with data validation, quality reviews, and reporting for design, contracting, and project delivery activities.
  • Prepare presentations and recommendations for leadership based on data findings and business insights.
  • Collaborate with Design, Project Management, Engineering, Operations, and Business Support teams.

Requirements

  • Current junior-level student or higher, enrolled in an ABET-accredited college or university.
  • Pursuing a degree in data science, business analytics, statistics, mathematics, engineering, project management, computer science, information systems, construction management, or a related program.
  • Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer and up to 20 hours per week during the school year, with in-person commuting to the designated location.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization tools.
  • Knowledge of SQL, Python, R, artificial intelligence, or performance reporting.
  • Experience with SharePoint, Power Automate, or process documentation methodologies.
  • Understanding of utility operations, engineering, project management, or construction environments.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
