Location: Onsite in Long Beach, California, United States

Salary: $86,100–$159,468 per year, depending on level and experience.

What you will do

• Own the design of primary and secondary structures for large-scale artificial-gravity space stations.
• Develop structural designs based on static and dynamic loads, vibrations, thermal conditions, and other environmental factors.
• Perform mechanical design and analysis, create manufacturing drawings and test plans, and support hardware through the full development process.
• Lead design trades and own interfaces with subsystems.
• Work with fabricators and technicians to improve designs, develop manufacturing processes, and resolve hardware issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, civil engineering, physics, or mathematics.
• At least 2 years of experience with CAD and FEA software packages.
• At least 2 years of experience designing and developing mechanical components or systems.
• Must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing under U.S. export control requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience designing structures or components for high-performance vehicles or spacecraft.
• Failure analysis, root-cause investigation, and proactive problem-solving experience.
• Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Experience with NX, Teamcenter, Ansys, Femap/Nastran, or Abaqus.
• Experience with GD&T and ASME Y14.5, or spacecraft standards such as SMC-S-016 and NASA-STD-5001.
