Microwave Instrument Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Hybrid in San Jose, California, with on-site work required three days per week. Access to export-controlled information requires U.S. person status, eligibility without export authorization, or eligibility and reasonable likelihood of obtaining the required authorization.

Salary: $184,000–$234,000 per year, plus equity and comprehensive benefits.

What you will do

• Develop and fly microwave instruments for satellite-based remote sensing applications.
• Own the design, refinement, and performance of core instrument system components.
• Adapt existing instrument implementations for compatibility with spacecraft hardware.
• Design affordable, manufacturable solutions for volume production across a growing satellite fleet.
• Implement digital signal processing for microwave instruments.
• Collaborate with external partners to expand internal microwave instrumentation capabilities.

Requirements

• PhD or master’s degree in a relevant field with at least 3 years of professional experience, or several years of hands-on microwave instrumentation experience.
• Background in digital signal processing implementation for microwave instruments.
• Experience with ground-based and/or on-orbit calibration of microwave instruments.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and coordination skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Must meet applicable U.S. export-control eligibility requirements for access to controlled information.

Nice to have

• Experience designing and testing microwave front-end, antenna, or reflector hardware.
• Experience with atmospheric sounding and/or Earth-surface imaging.
• Experience with Python and AWS cloud services.
