Finnish Sports Localization Specialist (Football)

What you will do

• Review, localize, fact-check, translate, and adapt sports content, primarily focused on football.
• Apply writing style guides, localization guidelines, and market-specific terminology.
• Research local content, product trends, terminology, and localization practices for Finnish audiences.
• Perform quality control, copy editing, and machine translation post-editing.
• Provide feedback on written content.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and/or at least 2 years of experience in linguistics, sports journalism, copywriting, or copy editing.
• Extensive sports knowledge, especially football.
• Experience translating and localizing multimedia content, preferably including machine translation and evaluation.
• Native-level fluency in Finnish and excellent Finnish grammar and writing skills.
• Strong creative writing, proofreading, and editing abilities.
• Practical knowledge of computers, mobile devices, word processors, spreadsheets, and a licensed version of Microsoft Office.

Nice to have

• Published work on ESPN, The Athletic, FourFourTwo, or similar platforms.
• Experience with sports media platforms, live-score applications, or sports streaming services.
• Ability to adapt voice and style for Gen Z, football fan culture, and pop culture audiences.
