Regional Advisor II (Admissions and Financial Aid): Connecting prospective students with Texas A&M University through admissions, financial aid, early outreach, and recruitment programs with an accent on underserved student recruitment, student advising, and regional outreach. Focus on coordinating high school and community partnerships, delivering presentations, supporting financial aid decisions, and leading recruitment initiatives across an assigned territory.

Location: Based in Los Angeles, California, with required reporting to work locations in the Los Angeles area. Extensive travel within the assigned recruiting territory and multiple trips per year to College Station, Texas, are required. Evening and weekend work is required. The position is not eligible for an alternative work location.

Salary: $55,000–$60,000 annually. Proposed minimum salary: $4,583.34 monthly.

What you will do

  • Identify, recruit, and support underserved prospective students through the admissions, scholarship, and financial aid application processes.
  • Coordinate with high school counselors, community colleges, families, and external organizations on recruitment and matriculation activities.
  • Organize school visits, presentations, college fairs, application workshops, resource tables, and trips to the College Station campus.
  • Advise admitted students on admission pathways, housing, orientation, campus resources, scholarships, loans, grants, and employment options.
  • Develop, implement, and report on recruitment, marketing, early awareness, and financial aid programs.
  • Mentor and train subordinate advisors and coordinate major office programs and professional association activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • At least two years of related experience in student services, admissions, recruitment, or financial aid.
  • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, organizational, presentation, and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of financial aid programs, federal regulations, admissions practices, enrollment principles, and higher education requirements.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work, multitask, solve student issues, and work effectively under pressure.
  • English literacy and the ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree or additional professional experience in higher education admissions, recruitment, advising, financial aid, or student services.
  • Bilingual Spanish skills.
  • Driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 30 days.
  • Experience with Banner, AIS, Howdy, MOSES, SLATE, or TAMUDocs.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, basic project management, and participation in admissions or student services professional organizations.
