Senior Research Scientist (Tracking, Detection, and Estimation Theory)

What you will do

• Enhance and optimize R&D algorithms that derive insights from raw sensor data.
• Develop tracking, detection, and estimation algorithms in Python.
• Apply imagery science and signal-processing expertise to OPIR image processing and data exploitation.
• Write modular software using modern Python libraries and software-engineering methodologies.
• Collaborate with a team of 6–8 people and communicate with peers and decision-makers.
• Support algorithm deployment concepts involving containerization and databases.

Requirements

• Active Top Secret security clearance required.
• Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or another engineering discipline.
• At least seven years of experience in a signal-processing-focused engineering career.
• At least five years implementing Kalman or particle filtering techniques.
• At least one year of experience with Bayesian statistical methods and Python.
• Mastery of software configuration management using Git, plus effective written and verbal communication.

Nice to have

• Master of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an engineering discipline.
• Experience developing modular, reusable software with object-oriented development practices.
• Experience with container technologies such as Docker or Podman.
• Experience with GitFlow, GitOps, GitHub, or GitLab workflows.
• Experience with OPIR data.
