What you will do

• Develop, optimize, scale up, and transfer upstream processes for recombinant drug substance manufacturing.
• Design, plan, execute, and evaluate process development and troubleshooting experiments.
• Apply process-relevant methods and analyze, interpret, present, and report experimental results.
• Support production facilities in resolving complex process issues.
• Test process changes at laboratory and pilot scale to optimize fermentation and ensure robust operation.
• Work independently within an international, interdisciplinary MSAT development team.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in biotechnology, bioprocess engineering, or a similar field.
• Relevant experience in biotechnology, bioprocess engineering, or a related discipline.
• Hands-on experience cultivating and handling genetically modified microorganisms.
• Laboratory-scale, non-GMP bioreactor fermentation experience for recombinant microbial production.
• Experience with microbiological methods and fermentation-related analytics.
• Fluent English and German; the role is based in Frankfurt am Main.

Nice to have

• Experience with pilot-scale bioreactors or GMP manufacturing.
• Experience with Komagataella phaffii (Pichia pastoris) and/or Escherichia coli.
• Experience with automated fermentation systems and large-scale recombinant production processes.
