Anesthesia Technician

Location: Tufts Medical Center; onsite operating-room environment

Salary: $22.00–$26.91 per hour based on full-time equivalent

What you will do

• Support anesthesiologists and nursing staff with patient transfers, equipment preparation, intubations, regional anesthesia, and invasive monitoring setup.
• Prepare, operate, calibrate, clean, and maintain anesthesia, inhalation, breathing-circuit, and physiological monitoring equipment.
• Set up IV solutions, arterial lines, monitor transducers, anesthesia carts, emergency carts, and related equipment.
• Order, stock, distribute, and track anesthesia supplies, medications, and equipment; conduct weekly inventory checks.
• Report equipment malfunctions, maintain service records, check battery-operated equipment, and address outdated or deficient inventory items.
• Support infection control, housekeeping, control-desk clerical work, and maintenance of the anesthesia library and catalog.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Ability to communicate accurately and effectively in English.
• Knowledge of sterile technique, basic cardiopulmonary anatomy and physiology, and infection control.
• Basic computer skills, web-based application navigation, and accurate written recordkeeping.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 40–50 pounds or more; stand or sit for eight hours or the length of the assignment.

Nice to have

• Associate’s degree.
• Emergency Medical Technician certification.
• One year of related experience in Surgical Services, an Operating Room, or PACU.
