Medical Assistant, Certified - Pediatric Specialties - Lawrence

Location: Tufts Medical Center, Lawrence; onsite outpatient/ambulatory clinical role

Pay range: $23.00–$26.91 per hour based on full-time equivalent.

What you will do

• Coordinate patient flow, prepare medical records, escort patients to exam rooms, and support a safe, clean, and comfortable care environment.
• Measure and document vital signs, pain levels, medication information, patient histories, and identifiers.
• Assist physicians and nurses with examinations, treatments, procedures, chaperoning, immunizations, and patient education.
• Collect specimens and perform ordered point-of-care tests, including urine dips, HCG, Strep A, HGB A1C, and glucose testing.
• Coordinate referrals, prior authorizations, diagnostic testing, surgical procedures, interpreter services, and patient communications.
• Support billing documentation, electronic medical record scanning, supply inventory, quality control, and quality improvement activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical Assistant national certification attestation from AAMA, AMCA, AMT, NCCT, or NHA.
• Basic Life Support certification, or ability to obtain it within three months.
• Less than two years of Medical Assistant experience.
• Ability to read, write, and spell in English for documentation and accurate message taking.
• Knowledge of universal precautions, patient handling, HIPAA confidentiality, electronic medical records, and EPIC.

• Two years of Medical Assistant experience.
• Bilingual communication skills.
• Experience with electronic medical record systems.
