Patient Care Assistant I Inpatient

What you will do

• Provide basic direct care and daily living support to adult inpatient oncology patients under RN direction.
• Assist with hygiene, bathing, toileting, dressing, mobility, feeding, positioning, ambulation, transport, admissions, and discharges.
• Collect and document vital signs, pulse oximetry, blood glucose, ECGs, intake and output, bladder scans, and specimens.
• Prepare and maintain patient-care equipment and a clean environment while following infection-prevention and safe-handling practices.
• Perform hourly rounding, respond to call lights, provide observation when assigned, protect patient privacy, and report safety or status concerns.
• Document care in the electronic medical record and collaborate with nurses and the interdisciplinary care team.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CNA, PCT, MA, EMT, or equivalent experience; a nursing assistant certification is required upon hire unless the candidate is a qualifying nursing student.
• Basic Life Support or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross is required upon hire.
• English proficiency sufficient to read, speak, and write accurately is required.
• Basic computer skills, simple math knowledge, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to safely lift and transport patients.
• Previous experience is not required for candidates with a CNA license.
