Group Protection Scheme Underwriter

Location: Edinburgh, hybrid; ad hoc travel to the Hove office is required.

Salary: £35,000–£45,000 per year, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Cost and underwrite quotations for new and existing Group Protection schemes.
• Assess risk and apply pricing in line with underwriting guidelines.
• Analyse and manipulate scheme data using Excel.
• Manage a varied workload covering straightforward and complex cases.
• Collaborate with underwriting, sales, and operational colleagues.
• Communicate with intermediaries when specialist input is required and develop technical underwriting authority.

Requirements

• Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Intermediate Excel skills and confidence working efficiently with data.
• Careful attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to manage deadlines and adjust priorities in a varied environment.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative, dependable, and proactive approach.
• Interest in developing technical Group Protection underwriting knowledge.

Nice to have

• Experience in Group Protection, Group Risk, or underwriting.
