GET Automation Principal Engineer (Industrial Automation)

Location: Ringaskiddy, Cork, Ireland; based at the Ringaskiddy site

What you will do

• Lead lifecycle management, governance, and continuous improvement for critical industrial automation systems, including Honeywell Building Automation, Siemens PLC, and Emerson DeltaV.
• Develop and deliver multi-year roadmaps covering lifecycle sustainability, automation architecture, technology innovation, cybersecurity resilience, and capital investment.
• Manage project budgets and Capital Acquisition Requests while supporting long-range financial planning.
• Engage manufacturing, compliance, reliability, platform, and Center of Excellence stakeholders to align automation systems with business requirements.
• Drive efficiency improvements, new technology adoption, system sharing, and global collaboration across engineering and automation functions.
• Provide training, monitor department KPIs, and ensure safe and environmentally responsible execution of automation activities.

Requirements

• Third-level degree in engineering, science, or an IT discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of leadership and delivery execution experience.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in a pharmaceutical or GMP-regulated manufacturing environment.
• Leadership, decision-making, problem-solving, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work at the Ringaskiddy site in Ireland.

Nice to have

• Experience supervising or managing people and resources.
• Technical knowledge of ISA-95 Level 1 systems, including Emerson DeltaV, OSI PI, PLCs, IT infrastructure, and hardware.
• Industrial automation networks, communication protocols, DeltaV batch control, and upstream, downstream, or bioprocessing knowledge.
• Understanding of ISA-95 and ISA-88 standards, ISA-95 Level 4 systems, ERP, quality management systems, and enterprise data platforms.
• Knowledge of Industry 4.0, IIoT, emerging digital technologies, AI, and machine learning in biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
