Software Engineer - Security Features (Backend)

Location: Paris, France. Hybrid work with office attendance on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays; Wednesdays and Fridays offer more flexibility for focused work. English is the working language.

What you will do

• Research, design, implement, and maintain backend services supporting user-protection features across B2B and B2C products.
• Build identity, authentication, access-control, threat-prevention, and other security-sensitive user journeys.
• Partner with Product and Security to translate security requirements and risk assessments into product features.
• Contribute to threat modeling and apply secure development practices throughout the software lifecycle.
• Improve resilience against account abuse, privilege misuse, insecure integrations, and identity-related vulnerabilities.
• Operate production services with observability, testing, maintainability, and appropriate operational ownership.

Requirements

• Professional backend software engineering experience delivering production systems in a SaaS or cloud-based environment.
• Experience building features that protect users and improve product security.
• Understanding of application security best practices, secure design principles, and threat modeling.
• Experience collaborating with a CISO, Security team, or equivalent security stakeholders.
• Backend development proficiency, ideally with Node.js and TypeScript, plus experience designing APIs and integrating external systems.
• Fluency in English is required.

Nice to have

• Strong knowledge of cryptography.
• Familiarity with Passkeys, SAML, OAuth, SCIM, or other identity and access management protocols.
• Experience with enterprise security features, authentication hardening, account recovery, access governance, or fraud and abuse prevention.
• Experience contributing to security reviews, incident follow-ups, or remediation plans.
• Exposure to consumer-scale and business-scale product constraints.
