Research Associate in Process Systems Engineering for Sustainability (Sustainability Assessment)

What you will do

• Conduct research within the EPSRC-funded REMOVE-UM project on recovering value from hard-to-recycle, multi-material products.
• Assess waste-stream valorisation opportunities and strategies to maximize economic potential and minimize environmental impact.
• Apply life cycle thinking, techno-economic analysis, and life cycle assessment to support project decision-making.
• Collaborate with polymer scientists, economists, social scientists, life-cycle experts, and researchers in chemical engineering and materials science.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and supervision to PhD and undergraduate students when required.
• Support the day-to-day research activities and collaborative operation of the sustainability research group.

Requirements

• Post-doctoral research experience relevant to process systems engineering or sustainability research.
• Expertise in life cycle thinking and economic and environmental sustainability assessment.
• Experience with techno-economic analysis (TEA) and life cycle assessment (LCA).
• Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary research environment.
