Senior Scientist (Biotech)

Location: Slough, United Kingdom; fully site-based role

What you will do

• Design, execute, and deliver multiple laboratory projects with a focus on safety, quality, and right-first-time delivery.
• Perform purification development and viral clearance experiments, including chromatography, ultrafiltration/diafiltration, column packing, virus reduction filtration, stability studies, and high-throughput screening.
• Review and interpret experimental data to generate process knowledge and support data-driven decisions.
• Work with customer project teams, multidisciplinary groups, and external vendors to coordinate studies, present progress, and troubleshoot issues.
• Prepare and review sampling plans, protocols, reports, standard operating procedures, and study documentation.
• Coach junior scientists and contribute to continuous improvement and departmental best practices.

Requirements

• BSc or equivalent qualification in a relevant scientific or technical discipline.
• Laboratory experience with strong practical expertise in scientific experimentation and data analysis.
• Knowledge or experience in purification development techniques, especially chromatography and ultrafiltration/diafiltration.
• Strong planning, prioritization, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, meet agreed timelines, present experimental results, and communicate scientific conclusions clearly.
• Collaborative approach with an interest in coaching others, continuous improvement, and developing subject matter expertise.
