Senior COA Scientist, Scoring & Interpretation (M / W / D) (Clinical Outcome Assessments and psychometrics): Translating COA manuals, publications, and author guidance into validated scoring requirements and implementation documentation with an accent on scoring structures, missing-data rules, interpretation, and clinical relevance. Focus on resolving ambiguous scoring logic, defining robust algorithms, and collaborating with statistical, product, engineering, and operational teams.

What you will do

  • Lead the scientific evaluation and implementation of Clinical Outcome Assessment scoring methodologies.
  • Interpret scoring manuals, publications, instrument documentation, and author guidance to define implementation-ready requirements.
  • Document score structures, derivations, recoding, transformations, weighting, conditional logic, missing-data rules, and completion thresholds.
  • Assess score interpretation guidance, including severity bands, benchmarks, score meaning, and clinically relevant outputs.
  • Partner with statisticians, programmers, product, engineering, and operational teams to deliver validated scoring implementations.
  • Investigate discrepancies and implausible outputs, resolve ambiguities, and develop reusable templates, SOPs, checklists, and governance assets.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in outcomes research, psychometrics, epidemiology, public health, psychology, health sciences, or a related discipline.
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience in COA science, outcomes research, psychometrics, patient-centred research, pharma, CRO, healthcare research, or instrument development.
  • Experience with instrument development, validation, psychometric evidence, and interpretation or meaningful-change research.
  • Deep knowledge of COA domains, scoring structures, recall periods, missing-data rules, interpretation, and clinical research use.
  • Experience applying complex scoring methodologies beyond simple sum or average scoring and translating source materials into structured specifications.
  • Experience with regulated or audit-sensitive clinical research workflows, stakeholder management, and reviewing work from junior colleagues. Excellent written English is required.
