Support Scientist I (AKTA)

Location: USA — Remote. The role includes 5% travel to Marlborough, Massachusetts, plus monthly local travel with regional colleagues.

Salary: $70,000–$85,000 per year, plus eligibility for bonus or incentive pay.

What you will do

• Provide pre- and post-sale technical assistance, troubleshooting, and product recommendations to internal and external customers through phone, webchat, and email.
• Maintain current product and support-literature knowledge through training and continuous learning.
• Manage customer inquiries accurately and consistently, following applicable complaint-handling regulations and processes.
• Deliver remote and face-to-face customer or colleague presentations and technical training.
• Support product-literature reviews, field and laboratory work, trade shows, and system installations.
• Identify opportunities to convert technical inquiries into lead generation, cross-selling, and upselling opportunities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, biochemistry, chemistry, biomedical engineering, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• Conceptual knowledge of chromatography theories, practices, and procedures.
• At least 3 years of laboratory experience with Cytiva or GE Healthcare chromatography equipment.
• Working knowledge of AKTA instruments, Unicorn software, chromatography resins, and purification methods.
• Willingness to travel 5% to Marlborough, Massachusetts, and locally each month with regional colleagues.

Nice to have

• Pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience and familiarity with regulatory compliance in drug development.
• Experience designing and delivering technical training for technical or non-technical audiences.
• At least one year of technical support, field applications, or sales experience involving customer contact.
