What you will do
- Provide direct patient care and support activities of daily living, including hygiene, mobility, feeding, positioning, transport, admission, and discharge support.
- Collect and document vital signs, pulse oximetry, blood glucose, ECGs, intake and output, bladder scans, and patient specimens.
- Report changes in patient status and abnormal findings to the registered or licensed nurse.
- Set up, clean, and maintain patient care equipment while following infection prevention and standard precaution procedures.
- Promote a safe, respectful, and patient-centered environment through rounding, call-light response, observation, privacy protection, and safe patient handling.
- Document care in the electronic medical record, collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, and support the orientation and mentoring of new Clinical Assistants.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of experience as a Clinical Assistant, CNA, PCT, MA, EMT, or in an equivalent role.
- Nursing assistant certification required upon hire, unless the candidate is a nursing student who has completed fundamentals of nursing with a clinical component.
- Basic Life Support or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross required upon hire.
- Knowledge of English sufficient to read, speak, and write accurately; basic computer skills and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to safely lift and transport patients, walk, stand, and lift up to 35 lbs.; the role involves direct and continuous contact with adult oncology patients and families.
