Lead Data Scientist (Fintech)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; hybrid with in-person work at an assigned hirify.global office at least two days per week

Salary: $100,000–$160,000 annually

What you will do

• Develop predictive risk management and business intelligence solutions for credit card issuers, auto and mortgage lenders, collections agencies, and retail banks.
• Lead client-facing descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics engagements across the consumer lending portfolio lifecycle.
• Design programs for data extraction, segmentation, and statistical analysis on large population datasets.
• Present analytical insights and recommendations to customers, internal stakeholders, and executive audiences.
• Develop project proposals, sales presentations, and promotional materials supporting adoption of analytics products and services.
• Mentor junior colleagues and manage multiple initiatives with limited direct supervision.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in statistics, applied mathematics, financial mathematics, engineering, operations research, or another highly quantitative field.
• At least four years of professional analytical experience in financial services or a related industry.
• At least three years of successful client-facing experience.
• Advanced programming skills, including mastery of R or SAS and experience with SQL, Hive, Pig, Python, C/C++, or Java.
• Familiarity with relational, MPP, and/or Hadoop data-management frameworks, Linux, and Microsoft Office tools.
• Strong project-management skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments effectively.

• Understanding of current financial-services industry challenges and trends to identify customer analytical needs and business opportunities.
