TL;DR
Equipment Design Engineer (Mechanical Equipment/Manufacturing): Designing, upgrading, installing, and supporting equipment and process systems for franchised commercial dealers with an accent on machine design, equipment reliability, and lifecycle improvements. Focus on solving obsolescence and assembly issues, coordinating cross-functional engineering decisions, and delivering small-scale projects within cost, schedule, and functionality requirements.
Location: Muscatine, United States; domestic travel to manufacturing plants and franchised dealer locations is required, with extended hours as needed.

What you will do
- Support the design and development of new equipment for franchised commercial dealers.
- Maintain legacy machine designs by preparing Engineering Change Orders, addressing component obsolescence, and introducing design enhancements.
- Use AutoCAD and Creo to document machine designs, manage revisions, and support product lifecycle management.
- Provide technical support to the Equipment Assembly Plant, including troubleshooting quality, startup, assembly, and reliability issues.
- Plan and manage small-scale equipment development projects to meet cost, schedule, and functionality commitments.
- Collaborate with electrical, project, and process engineering as well as Marketing, IT, Purchasing, Legal, Logistics, Finance, and Production Control.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of related experience, an advanced degree without experience, or equivalent work experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with familiarity with risk-reduction methods.
- Experience or familiarity with equipment and processes used at franchised dealer locations.
- Ability to travel domestically to support technical issues and equipment installations.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States; Bridgestone does not offer sponsorship, and temporary work authorization or the need for sponsorship may disqualify applicants.
