Senior Business Analyst (Hedge Funds Technology)

Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States; office presence required 4 days per week with flexibility to work remotely 1 day per week.

Base salary: USD 80,000–150,000 per year, plus potential variable compensation and benefits.

What you will do

• Partner with business stakeholders to define, prioritize, and document requirements for hedge fund technology solutions.
• Perform systems analysis and produce functional specifications, workflows, use cases, and test plans.
• Develop expertise in internal systems, APIs, datasets, portfolio workflows, and investment data.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on scalable solution design, planning, estimation, implementation, and delivery.
• Define testing standards, validation controls, auditability requirements, and post-release stabilization activities.
• Analyze production issues, support user training, develop prototypes, and assist with project management activities.

Requirements

• 7+ years of business analysis experience, including several years in investment management or financial services.
• Experience leading end-to-end solution delivery and working directly with business partners.
• Strong knowledge of portfolio management, investment workflows, hedge fund operations, asset classes, holdings, transactions, performance, analytics, and risk.
• Hands-on data analysis experience with strong SQL skills or relational database experience.
• Experience with Python, workflow diagramming, HTTP request and response analysis, and tools such as Postman or Hoppscotch.
• Ability to apply AI-assisted tools responsibly, considering data privacy, intellectual property, and model limitations.

Nice to have

• Experience with portfolio management or portfolio implementation systems.
• Familiarity with Tableau, JIRA, Git, and Visio.
• CFA or another relevant financial certification.
