Senior Analytics Engineer - Business Intelligence (Robotics)

Location: Ann Arbor, MI; Blacksburg, VA; Fort Worth, TX; or remote across the US. Ann Arbor, MI is the hiring hub.

Hiring range: $160,800–$193,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Design and own governed data models, semantic layers, tables, and views that provide a single source of truth for BI reporting.
• Build and maintain reliable ETL/ELT pipelines, data quality checks, validation processes, and documentation.
• Translate business and leadership reporting needs into reusable models, KPIs, dashboards, and visualizations using SQL, Python, Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools.
• Improve data platform architecture and secure data access paths from source systems into BI-ready models.
• Mentor analysts and engineers through reviews, pairing, documentation, training, and reusable standards.
• Evaluate AI-assisted development tools and implement AI/LLM-powered BI capabilities such as natural-language querying, anomaly alerts, and generated summaries.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Data Analysis, or a related field with 6+ years of experience, or a master’s degree with 3+ years of experience.
• Deep hands-on experience with data modeling, database or warehouse design, and production ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Strong SQL and Python skills for pipeline development, transformation, and analysis.
• Experience with Tableau, Power BI, Looker, QuickSight, or a similar BI platform, including dashboard development.
• Experience mentoring or leading engineers or analysts, communicating technical decisions, and working with evolving requirements.
• Practical experience using AI-assisted coding tools, with the judgment to review and validate generated output.

Nice to have

• Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, AWS Athena, Glue, or similar cloud data services.
• Knowledge of relational, NoSQL, vector, data warehouse, and lakehouse architectures.
• Experience with dbt or comparable version-controlled and tested data modeling practices.
• Experience scaling data for ML/AI workloads or designing semantic layers for natural-language BI querying.
• Background in automotive, autonomous vehicles, robotics, or safety-critical data environments.
