Prototype & Test Engineering Intern (Electromechanical Systems)

Location: On-site 5 days per week in the San Francisco office

Compensation: $30–$35 per hour

What you will do

• Build and test complex electromechanical systems, including sensors, pumps, and electronics.
• Deploy prototypes to real users in collaboration with the product team.
• Review sensor data and field feedback with sensor, mechanical, electrical, and software engineers.
• Identify root causes, reproduce and characterize failures on the bench, and validate corrective actions.
• Track and report troubleshooting findings to engineering and product teams.

Requirements

• Engineering background with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems.
• Hands-on prototyping experience with mechanical and electrical systems.
• Experience using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and command-line utilities to debug hardware-firmware systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• BS or expected BS in engineering or equivalent; MS preferred.
• Ability to occasionally lift or push up to 50 lbs.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with AI tools such as Claude for debugging, scripting, or documentation.
• MS degree in engineering.
