Manager, Opto-Mechanical Manufacturing

Salary: $175,000–$205,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead, recruit, mentor, and develop opto-mechanical manufacturing engineers and technicians.
• Guide manufacturing-line development for star trackers, cameras, sun sensors, and other optical assemblies.
• Develop metrology processes and alignment tooling for lens assemblies and opto-mechanical hardware.
• Collaborate with optical and design engineers on manufacturability, DFM/DFA, and PDR/CDR reviews.
• Establish a cleanroom and build acceptance-testing capabilities, including functional and environmental testing.
• Improve manufacturing rate, quality, reliability, and process scalability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 6 years of opto-mechanical manufacturing experience and optical metrology equipment experience.
• At least 3 years of people-management experience and a strong record of mentoring and developing employees.
• Deep understanding of opto-mechanical manufacturing processes and materials.
• Experience with mechanical design and GD&T using NX and Teamcenter.
• Must be a U.S. Person or eligible to obtain the required U.S. export license under ITAR/EAR regulations.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• Space-application manufacturing experience and knowledge of thermal cycling, vibration, and TVAC testing.
• Experience scaling a team in a startup environment.
• Knowledge of optical alignment and measurement equipment, including theodolites, autocollimators, laser trackers, and solar simulators.
• Experience with adhesives, glasses, ceramics, metals, lens setups, and refractive or reflective collimation methods.
