Housing Operations Coordinator (Student Development Specialist II)

Location: Galveston, Texas; live-on-campus position in a provided residence hall apartment

Salary: $3,750 per month; $45,000 annually

What you will do

• Support oversight of residence hall buildings and spaces through inspections, site visits, and coordination of custodial, maintenance, accessibility, and facility services.
• Monitor work orders and assist with preventative maintenance, renovations, capital improvement projects, construction initiatives, and furniture and equipment purchasing.
• Supervise Housing Operations student staff, including training, scheduling support, performance management, and development.
• Coordinate housing accommodations, residential space modifications, safety walkthroughs, and residence hall opening and closing processes.
• Support StarRez housing assignments, occupancy management, departmental processes, and continuity of residential operations.
• Participate in educational programming, student conduct hearings, campus events, orientations, committees, and student organization advising.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least one year of experience in student affairs work or a related specialty.
• Ability to communicate effectively, organize work, multitask, and cooperate with others.
• Working knowledge of StarRez, Onity, and Ving/VisiOnline.
• Must live in the on-campus provided apartment and work required evening, weekend, and on-call shifts.
• Must respond as essential personnel during campus emergencies, including hurricane-related incidents or campus closures.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or a related field.
• Two or more years of professional or graduate-level experience in housing operations or student affairs.
