Payroll Specialist

Location: HQ - San Diego, California, United States

Salary: $70,304–$75,000 per year, plus discretionary bonus targets of 10% cash and 10% restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Process biweekly and monthly payroll for all employees, including terminations and final pay.
• Review timecards, hours, overtime, PTO, pay rates, shift differentials, bonuses, and special pay.
• Audit payroll reports, troubleshoot discrepancies, and respond to employee payroll inquiries.
• Process federal, state, and local tax withholding, wage garnishments, and tax rate notices.
• Support quarterly and annual tax filings, including W-2 and W-2c corrections.
• Prepare payroll reports, reconcile payroll accounts, assist with financial close, and maintain audit documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• At least 2 years of payroll experience.
• At least 2 years of practitioner experience using an HCM database.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, written and verbal communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Successful completion of credit, criminal background, and pre-employment drug screening is required.
