Assistant Director, Software Engineering-Real Estate (React/Node.js)

Location: Milwaukee, WI, United States; hybrid

Salary: $176,000–$264,000 per year

What you will do

• Set technical direction and delivery standards for Real Estate engineering teams.
• Lead solution design across React, Node.js, REST APIs, dbt, and Snowflake.
• Decompose and sequence initiatives spanning applications, APIs, data pipelines, and warehouse models.
• Establish practices for code quality, testing, CI/CD, observability, reliability, and operational readiness.
• Manage architecture, integration, performance, security, and technical delivery risks.
• Guide incident response, root-cause analysis, data reliability improvements, and warehouse performance optimization.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software and data engineering experience with full-stack and data platform expertise.
• Experience leading engineers directly or demonstrated readiness for people leadership.
• Strong experience with React, backend services, and REST API design.
• Strong knowledge of data warehousing, database performance tuning, cost-aware design, and data governance.
• Experience designing secure, scalable, and observable enterprise systems.
• Ability to mentor engineers and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience in investment services.
• Experience modernizing legacy applications and data pipelines.
• Experience with platform migrations and phased cutover strategies.
• Experience defining shared engineering standards across multiple teams.
