Technical Writer (Solar Energy)

Location: Oakland, CA, USA

Salary: $88,100–$110,100 per year for the Oakland location. The role is also associated with salary ranges for other hirify.global locations.

What you will do

• Create, edit, and publish technical documentation for internal and external audiences.
• Produce product manuals, technical specification sheets, application notes, white papers, service manuals, product bulletins, and user guides.
• Attend meetings, gather product specifications, and clarify requirements for published content.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams to define content objectives and finalize edits.
• Develop tables, diagrams, drawings, and supplemental images to explain product functionality.
• Manage documentation revisions, accuracy, version control, and delivery deadlines.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience drafting and editing technical documentation.
• Excellent writing, grammar, formatting, page-layout, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe software, and CAD tools.
• Experience managing and maintaining documentation version control.
• Visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future, including for OPT or H1B transfers.

Nice to have

• Experience using SolidWorks to manipulate CAD models.
• At least 2 years of experience in residential solar or a similar electrical equipment industry.
• Experience creating technical documentation for new products.
• Experience with product lifecycle management systems such as Arena or Windchill.
