Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE)

Location: Huntsville, Alabama, United States. U.S. citizenship is required, along with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance. Travel of up to 15% is required.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain SysML models capturing system behavior, structure, interfaces, and operational requirements across Missile Defense Agency programs.
• Map system and component requirements to architecture artifacts while maintaining traceability, verification matrices, and baseline integrity.
• Connect MBSE models with external tools, simulations, and data repositories to support digital engineering initiatives.
• Prepare and present model-centric artifacts for SRR, PDR, CDR, and configuration control board reviews.
• Conduct architectural trade studies, analyze interface documents, and identify integration risks.
• Maintain version control and configuration compliance for SysML models.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and at least seven years of experience supporting missile defense or large-scale, complex DoD programs.
• Proficiency with SysML and systems engineering frameworks including DoDAF and UAF.
• Hands-on experience with MBSE tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, Cameo Enterprise Architect, MagicDraw, or Sparx Enterprise Architect.
• Ability to communicate complex architectures through diagrams, technical documentation, and briefings for multidisciplinary stakeholders.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
• Must be able to travel up to 15% of the time.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting Missile Defense Agency programs such as GMD, THAAD, Aegis BMD, C2BMC, or Targets and Countermeasures.
• OCSMP certification at the Fundamental, Intermediate, or Advanced level.
• Experience with DOORS, Cameo Requirements Plugin, Jira, or Confluence.
• Experience integrating MBSE models with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or OpenMBEE.
• Familiarity with DoD systems engineering processes, CDRLs, and technical baseline governance.
