TL;DR
Cybersecurity Specialist (Aviation) (RMF/NIST): Embedding cybersecurity and Risk Management Framework requirements into aircraft system designs and maintaining authorization packages for aviation ISR and test platforms with an accent on NIST controls, eMASS, STIG compliance, and ATO processes. Focus on developing POA&Ms, integrating sensor payloads and mission systems, and coordinating cyber testing and vulnerability assessment events.
Location: Huntsville, Alabama, United States; travel up to 15% required.

What you will do
- Embed RMF requirements into aircraft engineering and system design processes.
- Develop, maintain, and submit RMF authorization packages in eMASS to secure and maintain ATOs for aviation ISR and test platforms.
- Lead system lifecycle activities, including assessments against NIST SP 800-53 and CNSSI 1253 controls for Closed Restricted Networks.
- Manage POA&Ms and coordinate remediation strategies with engineering teams during platform integration.
- Provide cybersecurity guidance for integrating sensor payloads, datalinks, and mission systems onto FAA-certificated aircraft.
- Coordinate Cyber Tabletop, Cyber Development Testing, and Cooperative Vulnerability and Penetration events, while maintaining the security posture of SILs and simulation environments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline and 10+ years of relevant cybersecurity experience.
- Experience with DoW STIGs, NIST RMF, IAVMs, and tools including ACAS, Nessus, SCC, and STIG Viewer.
- Prior experience embedding RMF requirements into aircraft system designs and advancing RMF authorization packages through the ATO process.
- Knowledge of NIST security controls, eMASS, information system architecture, information security, privacy, and data security.
- Experience with security policy writing, auditing, compliance, and maintaining IT security controls and procedures.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a DoW security clearance. DoW 8570 IAT or IAM Level II certification is required.
Nice to have
- Master's degree.
- DoW 8570 IAT or IAM Level III certification, such as CISSP, CISA, CASP, GSLC, CAP, CISM, or CEH.
- Experience in DoW security environments and with systems, network, and endpoint security.
- Knowledge of firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, and anti-malware technology.
